Abstract

Penelitian mengenai mikrofasies batugamping Formasi Kalipucang dilakukan di daerah Urug dan sekitarnya, Kecamatan Jatiwaras, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat. Formasi Kalipucang merupakan kelompok batuan karbonatan yang tersusun atas satuan batugamping terumbu dan batugamping klastika berumur Miosen Tengah (Budhistrina, 1986). Identifikasi fasies batugamping Formasi Kalipucang pada daerah penelitian dilakukan untuk menentukan zona fasies atau lingkungan pengendapan batugamping. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tahap observasi lapangan berupa pemetaan geologi yang dilanjutkan dengan analisis laboratorium yaitu analisis paleontologi, analisis petrografi dan analisis mikrofasies. Analisis laboratorium dilakukan pada delapan sampel batuan yang ditemukan dalam kondisi fresh di lapangan. Selain itu, dilakukan pula analisis studio yang menghasilkan peta lintasan pengamatan, penampang stratigrafi terukur serta model pengendapan batugamping daerah penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil analisis pada karakteristik batugamping daerah penelitian diperoleh jenis batugamping wackestone, packstone, dan grainstone (Dunham, 1962) yang didominasi oleh grainstone. Apabila dilakukan determinasi menggunakan Standard Microfasies Type (SMF) menurut Flugel (2010), tipe-tipe mikrofasies batugamping daerah penelitian termasuk ke dalam SMF 8, SMF 10, dan SMF 18. Berdasarkan korelasi pada model pengendapan batuan karbonat menurut Wilson (1975), batugamping Formasi Kalipucang yang ditemukan pada daerah Urug dan sekitarnya diendapkan pada FZ 7 (Platform Interior-Open Marine) dan FZ 8 (Platform Interior-Restricted).
