Abstract

Indonesia as the host of the 2018th Asian Games was considered successful in terms of international positive comments and the economy impact, also tourism that has been felt since the beginning of the event preparation until after the 2018thAsian Games. Indonesia has earned profit Rp.42,4 trilion. Based on this milestone, thisresearch has aim to analyze how public diplomacy can works through 2018th AsianGames. To answer the research question, this research uses the indicators of 5 components in the theory of Public Diplomacy by Nicholas J. Cull: 1.)listening, 2.) advocay, 3.) cultural diplomacy, 4.) exchange diplomacy, and 5.) international broadcasting. The results in this research has proven that the success of 2018th Asian Gamesdeterminedby:1.) listening, the ability to hear and see the opportunities that exist when hosting 2018th Asian Games events; 2.) advocacy by collaborating with foreign media to lead and influencing people opinion about Indonesia; 3.) cultural diplomacy through promotion in another country; 4.) exchange diplomacy by involving students as a volunteer; and 5.) international broadcasting using TV and socialmedia.
