Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) Calculating the income of copra farmers in Tanjung Lago Village. (2) Analyzing copra marketing channels in Tanjung Lago Village. (3) Analyzing the feasibility level of copra business in Tanjung Lago Village. This research has been carried out starting in March 2020 in Tanjung Lago Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is a survey method. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in the income of copra farmers. This is proven that initially if farmers sell coconuts, the average income received is Rp. 6,300,000. After the farmers produced the coconut fruit into copra, the farmer's income increased by Rp. 3,028.833, so that the total income that farmers received after making copra was Rp. 9,328,833 per month. It is known that the first copra marketing channel that occurred from copra farmers to middlemen in Tanjung Lago village with the agreed price at that time was Rp. 10,000. Furthermore, the middlemen sold the copra to the collectors in the city of Palembang at the agreed price at that time of Rp. 10,500. Furthermore, the collectors of Palembang city sold copra to wholesalers in the city of Surabaya at the agreed price at that time of Rp. 12,000. Then when the copra arrived at the big traders in the city of Surabaya, then the copra was sold to the copra processing factory in the city of Surabaya and sold abroad (export) according to the export demand at that time. The results showed the comparison between the total revenue and the total cost of copra business (R/C) = 1.40. This means that for every cost incurred at the beginning of the copra business activity of Rp. 1,000, an income of Rp. 1,400 will be obtained at the end of the copra business activity. Therefore, the copra business run by the Copra Farmers in Tanjung Lago Village is feasible. Keywords: business feasibility, marketing, copra.
