Abstract

One of the center for tidal swamp rice farming in Palembang City is in Gandus District, which has an area of 1,017,255 hectares of tidal swamp rice farming, consisting of shallow, middle, and deep tidal swampland. The productivity of rice in Gandus District (4.40 tons/ha) is still lower than the average productivity of South Sumatra Province (4.98 tons/ha) and National (5.13 tons/ha). The purpose of this study were (1) to analyze the factors that influence rice productivity in tidal swamp rice farming in three typologies in Gandus District, Palembang City, (2) to analyze the efficiency of the use of rice production factors in tidal swamp rice farming in three land typologies in Gandus District, Palembang City, and (3) to analyze farmers' incomes in tidal swamp rice farming in three land typologies in the District Gandus Palembang City. The research was conducted in Gandus District, Palembang City. Sampling used purposive sampling method and taken as many as 93 respondents, consisting of 31 respondents in each typology of tidal swamp land. The analysis used is a linear function analysis of the Cob Douglass model and t-test to determine the effect of production factors, efficiency analysis, and income analysis of farmers. The results showed that (1) Based on the results of statistical tests, the production factor of urea and NPK fertilizers had a significant affect on farming productivity in all typologies of tidal swampland. Land area, seed, and pesticide factors had no significant effect on farming productivity in all typologies of tidal swampland. Meanwhile the labor factor had a significant effect in middle and deep tidal swampland, but had no significant effect in shallow tidal swampland. (2) Based on the efficiency analysis, technically the production factors of land area, urea fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, and labor are efficient in the three tidal swampland typologies, but the seed production factors are efficient in the shallow tidal swamp and inefficient in the middle and deep tidal swamp, while the pesticides are efficient in shallow and deep tidal swamp but not efficient in the middle tidal swamp. Based in the result of statistical test to the efficiency value, the production factors of urea and NPK fertilizer has not been used efficiently in all land typologies, the production factors of land area is efficient in shallow and middle tidal swampland, but inefficient in deep tidal swampland, while the use of seed, pesticide, and labor are efficient in all typology of tidal swampland. (3) Based on the results of farming analysis, tidal swamp rice farming provides positive income for all land typologies, the highest farming income in deep tidal swampland, which is Rp. 8.215.409,49 per hectare, followed by the middle tidal swampland of Rp. 7.756.659,45 per hectare and shalow tidal swampland of Rp. 7.030.028,76 per hectare.
