Abstract
Debris is a waste that generated by human activities. Debris differentiated into land debris and marine debris. Marine debris is defined as any persistent solid material that is manufactured or processed and directly or indirectly, intentionally or unintentionally, disposed of or abandoned into the marine environment. Marine debris generally comes from anthropogenic activities. Marine debris are classified into micro debris, meso debris, macro debris, and mega debris. Macro debris is a waste that has a size 2.5 cm – 1 m. the purpose of this research is to identified, knowing the abundance of macro debris at coastal land of Sungsang Village and Musi River Estuary as well as do the load analysis of macro debris at Musi River Estuary. This research was conducted at December 2018. The sampling was done at coastal land of Sungsang Village using standings stock techniques and on the Musi River Estuary using trash net that was taken at spring tide. Sample analysis was committed at Oceanographic and Marine Instrumentation Laboratory, Sriwijaya University. The result of this research shows the macro debris was founded by 5 types, plastic fragments (92%), metals (2%), glass (1%), rubbers (1%), dan processed lumber (4%), with the abundance revolves around 0.247 – 0.68 items/m2 at the coastal land of Sungsang Village and 48.61 – 240.74 items/m3 at the Musi River Estuary. Load macro debris that was obtained revolves around 0.951 – 5.476 items/s.
