Abstract

The aims of this research were to determine the effect of organic fertilizer ffom water Hyacinth and Water Fem on growth and productivity of melon (Cucumis melo L) in Ultisol. The research was carried out in Sukaraja, South Prabumulih ffom December to February 2012. Soil analysis performed in the laboratory of Soil Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. Method of the study used a Complete Randomized Block Design (CRBD), and if there is a significant difference then further analysis were carried out. Results showed that water Hyacinth compost at a dosage of 20 ton ha'1 gave the best results in increasing plant growth and yield compared with the dosage of 5 ton ha and 10 ton ha 1 compost water Fem and water Hyacinth. It is recommended to conduct further research on the effects of water Hyacinth compost in the field
