Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the dose of compost with a population of bacteria and the production of sweet com at two different doses of NPK. There are NPK recommcnded dosage and /2 NPK recommended dosage. This research has been conducted at Agribisnis Experiment Garden of Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University from September 2010 until April 2011. Soil samples ware analyzed at Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility Laboratorv Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya, University, Indralaya. Experimental design applied was factorial randomize completely block design with two treatment factors and three replication. The two factors of treatment were compost rate which consisted of 0, 5, 10, 15 ton ha-1 and NPK fertilizers, 1 and 0,5 recommendation dosage for sweet com. The combinateare K0A1, K0A2, KIAI, K1A2, K2AI, K2A2, K3A1 and K3A2. The resulLs showed that administration of compost significanlly increased soil bacterial populations with the highest rates at a dose of compost 15 tons ha-1 of 7,877 log spk g"’ and maize production with an average weight of com highest dose of compost at 15 ton ha 1 of 211,75 grams plant-1. Provision of NPK also significantly increased the population of soil bacteria with the highest rates in the recommended doses of NPK is 7,647 log spk g 1 and sweet com production with a mean weight of com highest recommendecl doses of NPK 203,06 gram plant 1. While the provision of compost and inorganic fertilizer wilh no apparent effect on soii bacterial populations and increased maize production. Form of the relationship of compost treatment on soil bacterial populations and the production of sweet com at two different doses of NPK fertilizer in the form of linear regression equation. From the equation obtained from regression analysis can be seen that the compost treatment combined with NPK fertilizer at different doses influential in increasing the population of soil bacteria and the production of sweet com
