Abstract

This research aims to test the ability of several types and population density levels of endophytic bacterial isolates derived from rice and maize grown in the swamp land in stimulating growth, as well as increasing N absorption and content of rice. This study was conducted from April to June 2012. This current experiment was designed using factorial completely randomized design with two treatment factors. The first factor is type of isolates and the second factor is the endophytic bacterial population density level. The results showed that three types of endophytic bacteria isolates were able to increase height, biomass, as well as N absorptions and content of rice. Furthermore, it was concluded that isolate Ii is best treatment based on the results of rice plant height and the tendency of percent increment of plant height, biomass, as well as N absorptions and content of rice. Meanwhile, endophytic bacterial population densityof 109 cells mL1 is the best treatment to increase height, biomass, as well as N absorption and content of rice
