Abstract

Coronavirus Diseases (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The 16 Ilir Market is one of the markets in Palembang that is spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) because it is the largest market in Palembang. The location of 16 Ilir Market is quite strategic because the market is near the Ampera Bridge and the Musi River edge. The way to stop the spread of COVID-19 requires knowledge and well attitudes so the behavior to prevent the spread of COVID-19 can be implemented. This research aimed to analyze the correlation among knowledge and attitudes towards the behavior of covid-19 prevention on traders at 16 Ilir market in Palembang city. This research method was quantitative with a cross-sectional study approach, the number of samples is 117 respondents, and the sample is taken using the purposive sampling method. The data collection technique used a questionnaire, then the data was analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods. The analysis test used the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The univariate analysis showed that prevention behavior improved, namely in adult female traders with education level ≥ Senior High School. The bivariate analysis results revealed that there was a correlation among knowledge (p-value = 0.049), attitudes (p-value = 0.003), gender (p-value = 0.003), and level of education (p-value = 0.001). There was no significant correlation between age (p-value = 0.431) and the availability of hand sanitizer on COVID-19 prevention behavior. In conclusion, there was the most influential variable on the COVID-19 prevention behavior in traders after the covariate variable, namely, attitude controlled the variable. Education regarding the dangers of COVID-19 transmission must continue. Providing education indirectly raises everyone’s positive attitude to behave to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
