Abstract
The clinical manifestations of COVID-19 are the developments and impactsn caused by COVID-19. Each person's clinical manifestations vary, such as mild and severe stages. The elderly and pre-elderly as a risk group usually experience severe clinical manifestations and have a higher fatality rate than other groups with the highest mortality cases in Palembang City. This study aims to determine the relationship between clinical manifestations and final status in the elderly and pre-elderly aged 50 years with COVID-19 in Palembang City. This study uses a descriptive analytic, cross-sectional research design by analyzing secondary data SISUGI (Epidemiological Surveillance Information System) COVID-19 starting from March 1, 2020 to April 7, 2021. The sampling technique was total sampling. The research sample was all data on elderly and older adults with COVID-19 aged 50 years in Palembang City who met the inclusion criteria, and the number of pieces was 278. Data analysis techniques were univariate, bivariate using chi-square, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Univariate results were 14.7% elderly and elderly with final status died, 37.4% experienced severe clinical manifestations. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship (p < 0.0001) between clinical manifestations and the last level of the elderly and pre-elderly with COVID-19 in Palembang City (PR: 3.208; 95% CI: 1.764-5.833). And the multivariate results showed that there was a relationship between clinical manifestations and final status in the elderly and pre-elderly aged 50 years with COVID-19 with age, gender, occupation, and comorbid history variables after being controlled by multivariate analysis, where the comorbid history variable was the confounding variable. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for categorizing and preventing poor final status, especially in the elderly and pre-elderly groups.
