Abstract
This research was conducted in the village Sepucuk Kedaton sub-district Kayu Agung of Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera. The implementation of research was begun from August until October 2012. This research aims to estimate the amount of the emission of C02 with corelation between maturity level of peat and soil water levels. The analyzes of C02 has been performed in Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility Soil Science Departement of Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this research was Randomized Complete Design Factorial (RCD-F) with 2 factors, that is ; 1. Maturity Level of Peat (F = Fibrik, H = Hemik, S = Saprik), and 2. Soil Water Levels (G0 = 10 cm, Gj = 0 cm (ground), G2 = -10 cm, G3 = -20 cm). Each treatment combination was repeated 2 times, with combination was FG0, FGi, FG2, FG3, HG0, HGj, HG2, HG3, SG0, SGi, SG2, sg3. The results showed that an increase of emission of C02 occured with the increasing matunty level of peatland and atmosphere change from reductive condition to oxidative condition, the highest emission of C02 have been found in maturity peat of saprik level and at water level of-20 cm depth.
