Abstract
One of the factors that reduce the production of farmers' crops is pests and diseases in rice plants. Symptoms that appear are often difficult to identify and only experts can identify them correctly and correctly. The limited number of agricultural experts in the area becomes an obstacle for farmers when they want to consult. Expert systems can be used as an alternative solution to replace the role of experts in deciding the type of disease that attacks. Therefore, an expert system for identifying diseases and pests of rice plants using the Certainty Factor method was developed to help farmers identify diseases that attack plants. Based on the research that has been done, the selection of symptoms can affect the determination of diseases and pests that attack rice plants. The results of testing the system output which were validated by experts had an accuracy of 92% of the 75 test data and the same 69 test data were obtained. And the number of samples of test data and symptoms experienced can affect the level of accuracy of the expert system.
