Abstract

This research discussed the "The Role of Thafidz An Nuur Sukamoro Boarding School in Social Life in the Community of Tanjung Sari Village, Talang Kelapa District, Banyuasin Regency". This research aimed to find out the role of Thafidz An Nuur Sukamoro boarding school in the social life of the people of Tanjung Sari village. In particular, the purpose of this research was to find out how the role and constraints of boarding schools in people's social lives by using the theory of Role from Soerjono Soekanto. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative research method. Informant retrieval using purposive techniques. The data was collected by observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The result of this research showed that the role of Islamic boarding school in the social life of the community in addition to providing a place of learning and worship for the community, Islamic boarding school also provided social action, education, and religious activities for the community in the form of monthly compensation for orphans and dhuafa, orphan and dhuafa scholarships, mutual aid activities, lower costs for able communities and religious activities (da'wah, study, Friday sermon, tahlilan, nuzul Qur’an, prophet's birthday, eid al-Fitr, eid al-Adha, Isra Mi’raj, prayer tarawih, and kultum). The constraints of Islamic boarding schools in carrying out their role were the lack of boarding school administrators, online learning during Covid-19, and lack of community participation in religious activities.
