Abstract

A word raft house is usually called in Indonesian language , a resident which is floating in water surface . It is called " raft house " because it has a different shape , like a raft builded water surface in along Musi River , Ogan River and Komering River in a region of South Sumatera . The title of this observation is a resident of raft house strategies to fulfill main life needed in Musi Riverside Palembang City . This observation is to know a strategy and the purpose of survival strategies and obstacles which is faced by using a adaptation concept by John Bennet . This observation method use descriptive qualitative methods with strategy case studies . The results of this observation is explain that a resident of raft house family in riverside of Musi River Palembang city is a family living in a raft house on the outskirts of the Musi River in Palembang City experiencing several obstacles , namely ( 1 ) limited business capital ( 2 ) the need for residential facilities ( 3 ) the need for clean water and electricity .
