Abstract

A lake is a depression on the earth's surface that is filled with water. Lake Kerinci has an area of ± 4200 hectares located between two sub-districts in Kerinci Regency, namely Keliling Danau District and Lake Kerinci District. Waters with large littoral areas have the potential for high biological productivity. Macrozoobenthos are organisms that can be found on the bottom of the waters which are also known as benthos, including all organisms and plants that live in areas that are still influenced by the littoral area. Macrozoobenthos are also used as aquatic bioindicators, because they are very sensitive to changes in the aquatic environment they inhabit. Lake Kerinci has a great influence in meeting the daily needs of the community so that it can affect the existence of macrozoobenthos. Waste in the lake can affect the structure of the community of organisms. This research was conducted from February to June 2022, located in the littoral area of Lake Kerinci, Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. Observations and identification were carried out at the Ecology Laboratory and the Physiology and Developmental Laboratory, Department of Biology, FMIPA, Sriwijaya University. Measurements of physico-chemical parameters and organic matter were carried out at the Palembang Standardization Research Institute and sediments at PT. Sampoerna Agro Palembang. This study aims to analyze the structure of the macrozoobenthos community in the littoral area of Lake Kerinci which includes composition, density, diversity index, dominance index and community similarity between stations. The stages of the research are sampling in the field, observation and identification and data analysis. The conclusion from this research is that the composition of macrozoobenthos consists of 6 classes, 7 orders, 11 families and 12 genera. The total density of macrozoobenthos in has various values at each station ranging from 738-5431 ind/m², the macrozoobenthos diversity index shows that it is relatively moderate with a value of 1.27-1.57 which means that the biota community can easily change if it undergoes small changes except for station 6 classified as relatively low with a value of 0.6 which means that the condition of the community is unstable and experiencing environmental factors disturbances, the macrozoobenthos dominance index in the littoral area of Kerinci Lake shows that there is no dominant species with a value of 0.27-0.35 indicating the condition of the community structure in a state of stable, except for station 6 there is a dominant species with a value of 0.63 indicating the community is in an unstable state with environmental disturbances, and the similarity index of the macrozoobenthos community found in the littoral area of Kerinci Lake shows the community that exists between stations is classified as the same due to the sediment texture which is partly is the same and the results of environmental parameters are not much different.
