Abstract

The purpose of this study were to (1) describe the benefits of agricultural waste processing from social, economic and ecological aspect which is introduced to farmers (2) calculate the benefits value of agricultural waste processing which is introduced to farmers and (3) analyze the perception of farmers of agricultural waste processing. This research was conducted in Banyu Urip Village, Tanjung Lago Sub- District, Banyuasin Regency. Data collecting was conducted in December 2017. The research used survey method with the sampling method used are census method and disproportionate stratified random sampling method. The results showed the benefits of agricultural waste processing from the social aspect that raises the nature of cooperation and trigger farmers to have a broad knowledge by organizing associations to exchange the knowledge while from the economic aspect of reducing production costs, increasing the income of rice and corn farming and improving the welfare of farmers both in fulfill the needs while and from ecological aspects reduce air pollution caused by combustion of agricultural wastes, improve soil physical properties and good nutrient content in agricultural waste and soil by processing agricultural waste. On the benefits value of agricultural waste processing is the value of agricultural waste processing produces approximately 100 liters of liquid fertilizer bacteria per planting season. Making materials to decompose agricultural waste (liquid bacterial fertilizer) provides additional income. While the average income of rice farming after applying the processing of agricultural waste higher than before applying the agricultural waste processing, with the difference of 29,40% and the average income of corn farming after applying the processing of agricultural waste is also higher than before applying agricultural waste processing, with the difference of 29,80%. The perceptions of farmers on agricultural waste processing in Banyu Urip Village on farmers who apply agricultural waste processing with very good criteria and farmers who do not apply agricultural waste processing with good criteria.
