Abstract
Corn plants are one of the main food crops in Indonesia besides rice and wheat. This research aimed to study the effect of various dosages of chicken cage fertilizer toward some physical properties and growth of maize plant height on Ultisols under maximum tillage condition. The research was carried out from December 2021 to February 2022 in the field laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The research design used a randomized block with 4 levels of treatment. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, so there were 16 experimental units. The research data analyzed the use of ANOVA at the 5% level. If the effect is significant or very real, then it is further tested with the BNT 0.05. The results showed that the application of chicken cage fertilizer based the dosage (4 kg, 8 kg and 12 kg/plot) had no significant effect on soil moisture content, bulk density, total pore space, soil structure and soil penetration resistance. However, it has a significant effect on the decrease in the value of soil permeability under conditions of maximum tillage condition. Application of chicken cage fertilizer at a dosage of 12 kg/plot under maximum tillage condition is the best dosage in increasing the height growth of corn plants.
