Abstract

Control using synthetic fungicides and bactericides used by farmers has a negative impact on controlling diseases caused by the pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum. The part of the soil that is in the plant roots contains many microbes that are beneficial for plant growth, namely the rhizosphere. The Asoka plant (Ixora coccinea L.) was chosen because it found a lot of microbial activity associated with Ixora sp. Rhizosphere microbes play an important role in nutrient cycling, soil formation processes, plant growth, influencing microbial activity and as biological controllers against root pathogens. Alternative control can be done without giving a negative impact on the surrounding environment, one of which is using antagonistic fungi to treat fusarium wilt disease. This research was conducted from December 2021 to June 2022. Located at the Microbiology Laboratory and the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. Sampling was carried out in the dirhizosphere of the Asoka (Ixora coccinea L.) plant, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The research stages include isolation, purification, dual culture antagonist test, identification and characterization of rhizosphere fungi. The results of the study of 7 isolates of the Asoka plant rhizosphere fungi obtained 3 isolates which had 60% or more potency, which could inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum IPBCC 07,540, namely isolates of the ISLT B, ISLT D and ISLT G rhizosphere fungi. Umbelopsis, ISLT D was identified as the genus Rhizoctonia sp. and ISLT G identified as Aspergillus section nigri.
