Abstract

Cesarean section is a surgery procedure to deliver a baby by cutting the uterine wali through the front abdominal wali Cesarean section is chosen when there is a seroius indication such as a life-threatening condition for both the baby and the mother, plansfor afuture cesarean section, uterus incision type, atibiotic usage andpost-operation complications. To identify the profile of cesarean section patients in Obstetry and Gynecology Department RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hosein Palembang period January lst 2009 - December 31st 2011. This research is a retrospective descriptive study on 963 cesarean section patients. Data were obtained through records of cesarean section indication, future cesarean section plans, uterus incision type, antibiotics usage, hospitalization duration and post-operation complications. Data will be showed through tables and narrationsFrom 963 samples, the maternal factors of cesarean section is the indication ofcesarean section (13,2%) and the fetalfactors ofcesarean section is fetal distress (15,3%). A majority of cecarean section patients went through surgery in an emergency or unplanned State (82,04%>), and all of them went through transperitoneal profunda uterus incision (97,92%). Most ofthe patients were given antibiotics before and after the procedure (56,4%), went through 4-5 days of hospitalization (59,9%)) and had complications of wound infections (18,9%).The dominant indication of cesarean section patients indication of section from the maternal factors and fetal distress from the fetal factors. A majority of cecarean section patients went through surgery in emergency or unplanned State, transperitoneal profunda incision was applied on most ofthe cesarean section patients.
