Abstract

ABSTRACT At the end of 2019 the world was hit by the emergence of a new disease called Covid-19, this caused countries in the world to try to save their country by setting policies to break the development of Covid-19 such as the lockdown policy. This causes foreigners who are in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic to be unable to return to their country which then causes overstay. This study aims to find out how the government's efforts to solve the overstay problem that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Sources of data used are secondary originating from journals, annual reports, articles and previous literature studies. The theory used is the National Protection theory which discusses the government's efforts to provide protection against threats both political, economic and security. The results of this study indicate that the overstay settlement efforts carried out by the government by issuing immigration regulations during the Covid-19 pandemic can already be a solution to the overstay problem caused by the lockdown policies implemented by several countries in the world. In addition, the regulations issued are also considered to respect the human rights of foreign nationals, although there is still a need to improve existing regulations in accordance with the development of Covid-19.
