Abstract

Website is proof that public relations has developed and adapted to the use of internet-based technology. The massive use of the internet makes a study that can confirm the role of the website as a medium of publication and information in meeting the needs of the public. This research was conducted with the aim of finding out the contents of the website as a medium for publication and information on websites university. This research is guided by the 7-dimensional criteria of a website as a publication and information media, namely; transparency, interactivity, usability, website maturity, positivity, openness, and useful information. The method used in this research is a quantitative content analysis method. This study conducted an analysis of 17 university websites. The results obtained through the study stated that the 7-dimensional criteria in the study had been applied to websites university. The most widely implemented dimension is the transparency dimension. The least implemented dimension is the openness dimension. By that the implementation of media publications and information on websites in South Sumatra is in the "Good Enough" category. This is evidenced by 59% of universities' websites being in a good enough category. While the other 41% are in the very good category.
