Abstract

Penelitian ini dengan judul “Representasi Kelas Sosial pada Film Snowpiercer 2013”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui pemaknaan kelas sosial yang tergambarkan dalam film Snowpiercer 2013 dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis semiotika. Analisis dilakukan dengan pedoman pada analisis semiotika dari Roland Barthes dengan tiga tahapan yakni, denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah studi pustaka. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelas sosial pada film Snowpiercer adalah sebuah perjuangan kelas bawah terhadap kelas atas atas untuk menuntut sebuah keadilan atau pemerataan kelas. Ketiakadilan dan kekerasan yang dilakukan kelas atas terhadap kelas bawah membuat kelas bawah melakukan pemberontakan dan gerakan revolusi dalam menuntut keadilan. Kata Kunci: Representasi, Kelas Sosial, Film, Snowpiercer, Semiotika Roland Barthes
