Abstract
Social media is present and is increasingly developing into an inseparable part of modern human life today . To understand how the impact of social media is researched through films . Five episodes of Black Mirror containing the theme of social media were chosen as the object of research . The Black Mirror series basically tells about the future of how technology develops and its impact on humans , including social media . This study uses a qualitative method by applying the theory of hyperreality belonging to Jean Baudrillard , a figure of postmodernism . The results of the analysis show that the episodes of The National Anthem , Be Right Back , Nosedive , Hated in the Nation , and Smithereens describe the hyperreality of social media . The five episodes show how social media causes many impacts to shape a new reality for its users . Keywords : Hipperrealitas, Social Media, Simulation, Black Miror, Baudrillard
