Abstract

This research is entitled “The Role Of The Community In Preserving Pantawan Bunting Culture In Tanjung Alam Village, Tanjung Sakti Pumu Sub-District, Lahat Regency”. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of society in preserving pantawan bunting culture in Tanjung Alam Village. This research using the theory of role as Biddle and Thomas (in Sarwono, 2015). The method that is used in this research a qualitative method, with a descriptive approach. Determination of informants in this research using purposive. There were 9 informants in the research, consisting of 2 key informants, 3 supporting informants, and 4 main informants. Types and sources of data were obtained from primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques were obtained from in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data collected was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The result of the research is the village is still running it is shown by the people who have been directly involved in the Pantawan Bunting culture since childhood. The community involvement includes, bringing some cooking ingredients, helping with the cooking process, preparing the food dishes, and invinted guests to try dishes at neighboring houses that have events. In addition, the involvement of the younger generation in carrying out the pantawan bunting culture, as well as socialization by the community shows the values of pantawan bunting culture, such as the value of solidarty and kingship that can strengthen community and family relations.
