Abstract

This study examines the role of the Indonesian government in increasing fisheries exports for the 2016-2020 period. The fisheries sector is a very large export opportunity because Indonesia has abundant fisheries resources and has moved to supply fisheries in the global market with the government participating in paying attention to fishery exports in the global market. This study uses the Mercantalism theory approach which emphasizes the role of state strategy in overseeing the economic development of the export concept. The type of research used is a qualitative research with library research study method. This study uses secondary data obtained from documents, articles, reports, electronic books, news, and internet-based research. The results show that the Indonesian government has actively played a role through a series of economic policies such as improving the quality of fishery products, developing a national fish logistics system. . In addition, increasing the capacity of human resources in increasing production is also a concern in an effort to encourage exports to be more dominant than imports.
