Abstract

Motivation is a set of attitudes and values that affect the individual as a whole process of giving encouragement or stimulation to behave in the work he is engaged in which can be seen from the internal and external dimensions. Watching educational videos is an activity where one can see information, with complex concepts, that teach skills and other things. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of watching diet education videos on Yulia Baltschun's youtube account on the motivation of students to go on a diet for Communication Science Students, Sriwijaya University, Bukit Campus with Overweight. The theory used is the theory of media exposure described by Rosengren & Sari in Rakhmat (2012) and motivation theory by Greenberg & Baron (2015). The method in this research is descriptive quantitative method using questionnaires to collect data. This study obtained the results using the coefficient of determination test, where the independent variable has an effect of 50.2% on the dependent variable.
