Abstract

Lokasi penelitian batugamping berada di Daerah Pusar, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Batugamping Formasi Baturaja mempunyai karakteristik litologi yang menarik untuk dilakukan pengamatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi penyusun batugamping, karakteristik dan jenis-jenis batugamping Formasi Baturaja serta lingkungan pengendapannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa observasi lapangan dan analisis laboratorium yang dilanjutkan dengan kerja studio. Hasil analisis tersebut diidentifikasi dengan Standard Microfasies Type (SMF) menurut Flugel (2010) dan Fasies Zone (FZ) menurut Wilson (1975). Dari pengamatan lapangan dapat diidentifikasi bahwa singkapan pada daerah penelitian merupakan batugamping klastik yang memperlihatkan adanya struktur perlapisan. Berdasarkan pengamatan delapan thin section batugamping didapatkan penamaan yaitu wackestone, packstone dan grainstone (Dunham, 1962). Hasil analisis mikrofasies batugamping daerah penelitian masuk ke dalam tipe SMF 8 berupa wackestone or floatstone wich whole fossils, SMF 10 berupa Bioclastic packestone or wackestone with worn skeletal grain, SMF 16 berupa Peloid grainstone or packstone dan SMF 18 berupa Grainstone or packstone with abundant foram atau algae. Kemudian hasil pengkorelasian pada model pengendapan batuan karbonat, diinterpretasikan batugamping Formasi baturaja pada daerah penelitian terendapkan pada bagian zona terumbu belakang, tepatnya zona fasies bagian dalam paparan dengan sirkulasi terbuka (Open marine, FZ 7) dan bagian dalam paparan dengan sirkulasi terbatas (Resticted marine, FZ8).
