Abstract

Abstract The aims of this study are to: 1) Describe the livelihoods of rice farmers in Pegayut village before and after the conversion of their paddy fields in a period of 5 years. 2) Calculate the income earned by rice farmers before and after the conversion of their paddy fields. 3) Analyzing the level of household welfare of rice farmers after the conversion of their paddy fields. This research was conducted in Pegayut Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency. Data collection was carried out in March 2021. The method used on the sample of farmers was the survey method with the sampling method used on the sample of farmers was the saturated sample method. While the data collected in this study sourced from primary and secondary data. The results obtained from this study regarding the side livelihood of rice farmers both before and after are not much different, only after changing the function of the land there is an additional livelihood, namely as an entrepreneur. When viewed in terms of the income of rice farmers both before and after land conversion, there is no significant difference between their total average income, which before the service transfers land, the average total income is Rp62,535,213 for year, while after land conversion the average total income is Rp54,373,950 for year. Based on the t-test, the value of Sig (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05. This means that there is a difference in the household income of rice farmers after changing the function of the land with before changing the function of the land. The average income of rice farmers after changing land functions has not been able to meet KHL standards and it can be said that rice farmers in Pegayut Village are not yet prosperous.
