Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni 2009 sampai bulan Agutus 2009 di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Budidaya Perairan, Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Perikanan dan Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Pertanian Universitas sriwijaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu pengeringan terhadap total karoten pada mikroalga Dunaliella salina. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuannya adalah pengeringan dengan waktu pengeringan (12 jam, 24 jam dan 36 jam). Parameter yang diamati yaitu analisis fisik (Ukuran Partikel dan warna) dan analisis kimia (Total karoten). Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pengeringan selama 36 jam berpengaruh nyata terhadap total karoten dan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap ukuran partikel dan wama Dunaliela salina. Pengeringan selama 36 jam menghasilkan total karoten paling banyak dibandingkan dengan pengeringan 12 jam dan 24 jam yaitu sebesar 66,44% dari bobot keringnya.
