Abstract

This study aims to determine the dynamics of groundwater in corn crops. The study was conducted in Bandar Jaya village, Ogan Komering Ilir district. The area of this research is 2 ha. Sampling using Observation method in the field on 2 ha of land in pairs of wells monitor to know the depth of groundwater. This research was conducted in April 2017 until October 2017. Observation has been done by descending directly to the field using 1: 35,000 scale map. Observed parameters include observations in the field and in the laboratory. The parameters observed in the field are channel conditions, water level in the channel, and groundwater depth. While the parameters observed dilaboratorium include Water Content, Bulk Density, pore space and pH. The results of this study show that groundwater fluctuations affect in the corn growth process in this study based on SEW-30 analysis of groundwater level which is passing from the root zone that is -55 cm average from the surface of the soil will result in poor production of maize caused lack of water in the soil relatively long so that the water needs in the soil is less fulfilled. Operation of the water network in the tertiary level influences the ups and downs of the dynamics of water in the soil, in this study during the cultivation of corn crops is always open so that the fluctuation of water in the soil varies each month following the ups and downs of tidal activity and the intensity of bulk varying rain every year.
