Abstract

Sungsang which is located in Kecamatan Banyuasin II, Kabupaten Banyuasin, South Sumatra Province, the people of this area are very dependent on the sea which is used as a place to meet their daily needs. The activity of catching fish and processing it into snacks is the main activity that can never be separated from their daily lives. Human activities can produce waste which will be the main source of pollution, both chemical and microbiological pollutants, which can affect water quality. With various activities around the waters of the village Sungsang Kec Banyuasin 2, it can produce types of waste that affect the quality of these waters. The waste will be a source of heavy metal pollution. Based on PerBPOM No. 5 of 2018 the maximum limit for heavy metal contamination in fish is Pb 0.20 mg/kg and Cd 0.10 mg/kg. The presence of heavy metals that continuously accumulate in the village Sungsang Kec Banyuasin 2 Estuary will accumulate in the bodies of organisms that live in them, one of which is gulamah fish which is often caught and consumed by the public which, if consumed continuously, will have a negative impact on health. The purpose of this study was to measure the concentrations of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) heavy metals in the meat of gulamah fish (Johnius trachycephalus Bleeker) and to compare the concentrations of heavy metals lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in the meat of gulamah fish in Muara. Village Sungsang Kec Banyuasin 2, South Sumatra based on PerBPOM No. 5 of 2018. The benefits of this research are expected to provide information to the public regarding the amount of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) heavy metals contained in gulamah fish meat. This information is also expected to help local governments in managing the water environment of the Barong River and Sugihan Estuaries in the future. The study was carried out from November 2021 to May 2022. Sampling was carried out at the village Sungsang Kec Banyuasin 2 which was landed in Sungsang Village, Banyuasin 2 District, South Sumatra. Measurement of heavy metal content using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results of the study found that the highest levels of heavy metals in the meat of gulamah fish (Johnius trachycephalus Bleeker) were Pb of 1.11 mg/kg at the estuary point of the Sugihan River. Meanwhile, the lowest heavy metal content in gulamah fish meat was Cd at 0.03 mg/kg. Heavy metal levels that exceed the threshold value that has been set based on PerBPOM No. 5 of 2018 namely Pb at the location of in village Sungsang Kec Banyuasin 2, Sumatera Selatan.
