Abstract

This research is entitled Communication Strategy of the Palembang City Transportation Service in Helping the Prevention of Covid-19. This type of research is qualitative research and uses descriptive analysis. The process of collecting research data was carried out by in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. This study uses a communication strategy planning model from Hafied Cangara. The Palembang City Transportation Service is faced with the current covid-19 problem, especially in the city of Palembang in the transportation sector which can be a medium in the spread of covid-19. The results showed that the Palembang City Transportation Service carried out research on the first five strategic steps, at this stage the Palembang City Transportation Service identified problems by looking for causes and ways to overcome the Covid-19 problem by coordinating with the Ministry of Transportation. Transportation, the South Sumatra Provincial Transportation Service and the Task Force. covid-19 and set check points for inspection and socialization. In addition, the Palembang City Transportation Service also conducted a situation analysis to determine the points designated for inspection points by mapping the Palembang City area. The second is the planning stage, at this stage the Transportation Service selects a communicator, namely a person who is an expert in transportation from the Palembang City Transportation Service, determines the message by explaining how to handle and prevent Covid-19 as well as transportation policies during PSBB, media selection through social media. The Palembang City Transportation Service collaborates with the news media using print media such as posters, stickers, ATCS (Area Traffic Control System) banners and cars equipped with loudspeakers, with the aim that the community implements health protocols. Third, implementation through the media and implementation is carried out directly. Fourth, the evaluation is seen from the impact that occurs in the community, namely the community has obeyed many health regulations and protocols. And the fifth is a report made by the Palembang City Transportation Service to be submitted to the Palembang City government.
