Abstract

Medical waste in waste management requires special treatment and facilities until it is destroyed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the management of medical solid and liquid waste. The method used is descriptive qualitative research. The number of informants in this study was 11 people, and the information was obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, document studies and laboratory tests. Validity is done by triangulation of data sources, methods and theories. The results showed that the sources and types of medical waste from laboratory rooms, emergency services, maternal and child health rooms and dental treatment rooms produced infectious waste, identification by categorizing medical waste, minimization by sorting and preventive maintenance, separation by separate trash boxes but no brown bags for chemical waste, collection at 14.00 from each treatment room, special yellow bag containers and safety boxes, transport by push trolley from each treatment room, temporary waste storage located behind the health center and stored in 24 hours but no containers and temperature control are available, medical solid waste treatment with third party cooperation, medical liquid waste treatment with WWTP, wastewater quality testing within normal limits, facilities and infrastructure such as PPE, clean water and containers are available. The conclusion is that in the aspects of identification, minimization, separation, collection, storage, transportation, temporary storage, solid waste treatment and liquid waste treatment and the quality of wastewater output has been carried out well. However, the provision of chocolate bags, storage space and temperature control has not been carried out. Suggestions are to develop changes and developments in aspects of solid and liquid medical waste management in health centers.
