Abstract

Introduction: Estrogen is a hormone which one of risk factors of carcinoma mammae. Estrogen will be activated on epithelial ductus target cells after attaching to estrogen receptor alpha (ERa). Genetic change like polymorphism PvuII in the first intron of ERa gene is estimated affecting function and expression of ERa gene. This identijication of polymorphisms PvuII in ERa gene of carcinoma mammae patients in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang can be a primary information of polymorphisms PvuII distribution and one of the first ejfort to control and to prevent carcinoma mammae. Methods: This study is an observational descriptive research of 37 carcinoma mammae patients in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. ERa gene polymorphism was determined by PCR-RFLP method. Then, PCRFRLP products were separated and visualized for analyzing the genotypes of the subjects in this study. Results: The frequency distributions based on sociodemographic character were as likely as the results of the other studies before. Genotype PP, Pp, and pp were distributed as 3 (8,11%), 23 (62,16%), and 11 (29,73%). Pp is the most frequent genotype appeared in all categories of sosiodemographic characters. Allotypes were distributed as 29 (39,19 %) for P allele and 45 (60,81%) for p allele so that p allele is more frequent appeared in all categories of the subjects ’ sociodemographic characters. Conclusion: Polymorphism PvuII of ERa gene of carcinoma mammae patients in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang were distributed as likely as theories of the other studies before. The most frequent appeared genotype is Pp (heterozygote) and then pp (mutan),and P P (wild type).
