Abstract
Introduction: In Indonesia, the prevalence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis is high in children, especially in South Sumatera. The disease disrupts growth of children with many mechanisms. The aimed of this study is to know the weight and height of children with new pulmonary tuberculosis by CDC. Method: This study was an observational analytic study with cross-sectional deisgn. The population in this study were all children who went to Poly Pulmonary in Muhammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang, RK.Charitas Hospital Palembang, Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital Palembang and Pulmonary Hospital Palembang that diagnosed new pulmonary Tuberculosis by pediatricians. Then measured of weight and height that included in inclusion criteria and plotted on growth chart CDC. Result: The population in this study are 71 children and the sample are 32 children that consisted 18 boys and 14 girls. The study showed of the 32 children, there are 24 children (91,66%) had a body weight below the third percentile, 21 children (65,625%) had a height below the third percentile, and for the nutritional status there are 15 children (46%) with normal nutrition, 14 children (43,8%) with mild malnutrition, 2 children (6,25%) with moderate malnutrition and 1 child (3,12%) with a severe malnutrition. Conclusion: There are 24 children (91,66%) with new pulmonary tuberculosis had a body weight below the third percentile and 21 children (65,625%) had a height below the third percentile but the nutritional status is normal (46%).
