Abstract

Background: Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the invasion of gram-negative diplococcus bacteria, Neisseria gonorrhoea. In Indonesia, Ihe incidence of gonorrhea is higher than other sexually transmitted infections diseases. The way to lower the incidence of gonorrhea is increase prevention efforts and a rational treatment. But in the fact, many can be found treatment that is not based on scientific or irrational prescribing stage. Although guidelines for treatment of gonorrhea. have ther.e but there.has.no t been enough. data about rationality treatment of gonorrhea in Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Polyclinic Dermato Venereology of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Objective: The aim of this study is to know and identify about rationality treatment of gonorrhea in STI Polyclinic Dermato Venereology of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This study is an observational descriptive study with cross sectional design which has been done from October until November 2012 in Medical Record and Dermato Venereology of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Samples of this study were taken from secondary data of gonorrhea patients medical record in Dermato Venereology of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Period 2009-20011 Results: There were 50 cases of gonorrhea of 126 cases of gonorrhea that are recorded in the Medical Record of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Based on epidemiological characteristics of patients gonorrhea, patients with the highest gender are male 44 cases (88%). The age group most commonly found are 20-24 years 13 cases (26%). In the status marital most commonly found is status mamed 30 cases (60%). While for the information about pasient’s education and job couldn’t be known totally because of incomplete medical record. Based on the use o f drugs in the treatment of gonorrhea, the types of drugs most widely used is sefiksim 50 cases (100%). A dose of a drug that is used rationally of 50 cases (100%). The frequency of drug are used rationally of 50 cases (100%). The way of administering a drug used rationally 50 cases ( 100 % ). Long administering medication used rationally 50 cases (100 % ). No interaction drug found because 50 cases ( 100 % ) drug gonorrhea used in the singular. To result treatment of gonorrhea couldn’t be known totally because of incomplete medical record Conclusion: Some of patient’s characteristics are male and age group 20-24 years have the possibility to be gonorrhea risk factors. The pattem of drug use in the treatment of gonorrhea can be concluded that the treatment of gonorrhea in STI Polyclinic Dermato Venereology of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 2009-201 lcouldn’t to be assessed rationality because of incomplete.the resulls of treatment but was in accordance with the guideline of STI Management Directorate General of communicable diseases and Environmental health of the Ministry of health of the Republic of Indonesia.
