Abstract
The Estuary of the Sembilang River is an area located in the north of Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, and is part of the Sembilang National Park Area. The estuary of the Sembilang River, whose many human activities are used as an area for fisher activities. Current is the horizontal or vertical displacement or movement of a mass of water in water to achieve stability, which is caused by several causative factors, including pressure gradients, wind blowing, pressure differences or density, tides, and others. Numerical modeling is one of the methods used to describe perception and speculation of a model. The data collection method used in this study is the mooring method. This modeling uses MIKE 21 software by numerical method to obtain information on the current. The western season is represented by December and the eastern season is represented by July. Validation is performed against tidal data and flow data. The RMSE value for tidal is 7.69% and for ocean currents, it is 16.77%. Velocity of the ocean current to the highest tide in the western season is 0.75 m/s and in the eastern season it is 0.90 m/s. The highest velocity of the ocean currents towards receding in the western season is 0.28 m/s and in the eastern season it is 0.30 m/s. When the tide conditions the water mass tends to move towards the river, while at low tide the water mass moves towards the open sea and is more varied.
