Abstract
South Sumatra is a province that has a very wide potential for swampland for the development of floating agricultural systems. The cultivation of floating plants is one of the solutions that can be developed in the lebak swampland during the flood period. In this study, floating cultivation used a raft arranged from 10 bamboos measuring 2x1 M. Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the leading horticultural commodities and have good prospects for the fulfillment of national consumption, sources of income for farmers, and foreign exchange of the country. Cow dung compost is the result of natural fermentation of organic matter with the addition of microbes (EM4) which can be used to increase soil fertility so that it can improve plant growth and yield. This research has been carried out at the embung of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, from July to September 2022. The method used in this study was a Randomized Group Design (RGD) with 4 levels of treatment. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so there were 12 treatment units, each treatment unit had 3 plants so that there were a total of 36 plants. In the onion plant treatment, it is as follows: P0 = Control, P1 = 8 : 1 (soil : cow dung compost) / polybag, P2 = 7: 2 (soil : cow dung compost) / polybag, P3 = 6: 3 (soil : cow dung compost) / polybag. The observation results were analyzed with ANOVA and a 5% Test Least Significant Differences. The observed parameters consist of leaf length, number of leaves, number of saplings, degree of leaf greenness, chlorophyll analysis, number of tubers, diameter of tubers, length of roots, fresh weight of tubers, wind dry weight of tubers, fresh weight of chestnuts, dry weight of nesting. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the dose of cow dung compost fertilizer recommended dose P2 = 7: 2 (soil: cow dung compost) / polybag is the best treatment for the growth and yield of onion plants floating because it has the highest average that is dominant in each observed changer.
