Abstract

Till now disease of diarrhea still become the health problem of the world especially in developing countries. In Indonesia, diarrhea still represent one of the health problem in the society. Statistical indicate that every year, two-third from entire/all diarrhea attack concentrated to preschool child with mortality case about 600.000 head. Still the diarrhea case height influenced by risk factors which need to be eheeked is furthermore, like mother’s knowledge about diarrhea, mother’s habit to clean hand, hygiene of milk bottle, and source of clean water. In 2008, diarrhea become important problem in Puskesmas Swakelola 11 ilir and always presents the three top disease. Due to the data which have been mentioned, there are still increase of patient every year, hence it is important to know farther regarding factors which have been mentioned above with occurence of diarrhea at preschool child in Puskesmas Swakelola 11 ilir’s Palembang region work. This research type represent of cross-sectional study having the character of descriptiveanalitic. This research is conducted in Puskesmas Swakelola 11 ilir’s Palembang region work in December 2009 - January 2010. Sample in this research is mother as responder amounting to 269 head who is taken away from all family head population owning preschool child in puskesmas swakelola 11 ilir’s Palembang region work. Method data collecting of obtained primary directly by research through technique interview by using quitioner, technique of FGD ( Focus Group Discussion) and circumstantial interview technique (IN-DEPTH Interview) and secunder data obtained of Puskesmas Swakelola 11 ilir’s Palembang profile and Office Sub-District 9 ilir and 11 ilir Palembang. Result of this research are that amount of mother owning preschool child in Puskesmas Swakelola 11 ilir’s Palembang region work of acute diarrhea counted 120 people (44.6%) and which not experience of acute diarrhea counted 149 people (55.4%). Result of analysis test correlation almost entirely show relation have a meaning between, mother’s habit to clean hand, hygiene of milk bottle, and source of clean water, except knowledge of mother about diarrhea. The importance of medical counselling continuously about diarrhea especially about risk factors which improving risk of diarrhoea disease utilize to know more early symptoms which possible arise, so that can degrade number of morbidity and also of mortality which caused by diarrhea.
