Abstract

This study aims to detect the existence of fiscal illusions in the provincial government in Indonesia. The panel data used in this study were 34 provinces with a time span of 2015-2020. Regression analysis is used to see the existence of fiscal illusions. The variables used are regional expenditure, GRDP, locally generated revenue ratio used for regional expenditure, general allocation fund ratio used for regional expenditure, population and retribution. The results of the study indicate that there is a fiscal illusion in the provincial government in Indonesia. The occurrence of fiscal illusions can be detected through the presence of independent variables that have a negative correlation with regional spending with a significant value. These variables are the population and retribution variables.
