Abstract

HIV-AIDS is one of the main public health problems in Indonesia. The number of HIV-AIDS cases in Jambi city has experienced a significant increase every year compared to other provinces. Social support provides the most effective relationship in behavioral change in PLWHA. KantiSehati Foundation is the only foundation that provides full social support to PLWHA in Jambi city. The purpose of this study was to analyze behavioral changes in PLWHA at the KantiSehati Foundation in Jambi City. This study uses a qualitative research design with in-depth interviews, observation and document review. The sample of this study were 16 informants consisting of 8 informants infected with HIV / AIDS 2 male sex men (MSM), 2 IDUs, 2 high risk couples, 2 WPS customers and 8 informants of the closest people selected using the purposive sampling method. The results of this study indicate that home visit, hospital visit and community activities with the concept of sharing HIV prevention among members, as well as touring activities to educate PLWHA about the importance of the surrounding environment as well as a means for ODHA to refresh their minds, have proven to be able to bring PLWHA to behavior positive. The average informant is infected through risky sexual activity but there are also informants who are infected not through sexual activity. When the informant was infected, the role of the closest person who encouraged him to maintain his life by accessing health services was through the KantiSehati Foundation in Jambi City.
