Abstract

According to WHO as much as 22.2% or around 150.8 million children under five in the world experience stunting. Prevalence stunting in Indonesia is more tall than other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Myanmar (35%), Vietnam (23%), and Thailand (16%) and occupy rating fifth world. Characteristics mother , knowledge and social culture take effect to stunting incident . Estimate the prevalence of stunting in the city of Jambi is 18.62% more tall compared to the national target by 14%. Destination research : analyze connection characteristics mother, knowledge and social culture and factor dominant age, education, occupation mother and social culture with stunting in Jambi city in 2022. Method : Research character quantitative use approach cross-sectional. Population study is mother toddlers in East Jambi sub-district, calculations a minimum sample of 119 people based on formula estimate 2 proportion with comparison . Results show that 18.5% of respondents have toddler with stunting. There is relationship Among incidence of stunting in East Jambi sub -district with (1) age mother's p-value 0.020 (2) educational status p- value 0.005 (3) job status mother p-value 0.052 (4) knowledge p-value 0.001 (5) culture eat p-value 0.000. Variable dominant culture eating and some counfounding factors like age, education, occupation , knowledge Conclusion : The incidence of stunting is caused by a dominant factor culture eat as well as a number of factors that become founding among them education, work and knowledge.
