Abstract

Ethnobotany is the science of botany regarding the use of plants in the needs of daily life and ethnic customs. Batra in society is people who use plants as medicines in their treatment. The komering community is a ethnic that lives on the banks of the komering river in the South Sumatra region. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of plants used, family, habitus, processing methods and methods of use and to determine the use value of plants using the formulas of species use value, family use value, fidelity level, and plant parts use. This research was carried out from February to April 2022, located in the East Kotanegara Village, Madang Suku II District, East Ogan Komering Ulu, and at the Laboratory of Physiology and Plant Development, Department of Biology, Sriwijaya University. The research was conducted by means of interviews, sampling, photo documentation, plant inventory and identification, data analysis and data presentation. The data are presented in tables and diagrams. The results showed 38 families of 73 species were used for 40 types of disease. The most common habitats are herbs. The method of processing is mostly boiled and the method of use is mostly by drinking. The highest species use value was 1 in Cocos nucifera L. and the lowest 0.16 was in Archidendron bubalinum (Jack.) Nielsen. The highest family use value was 0.66 in Arecaceae and the lowest 0.16 was Curcubitaceae. The highest percentage of 100% fidelity level was in Archidendron pauciflorum (Benth.) Nielsen for treating diabetes, while the lowest was 16.6 in Kaempferia galanga L. for treating heatiness. The percentage of the highest plant part use is 38% in leaves and the lowest is 1% in sap and roots.
