Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan eceng gondok (Eichornia crassipes) dan teratai (Nymphae sp.) dalam meremediasi limbah minyak bumi dan lateks. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2008-September 2009 di Laboratorium Dasar Bersama, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan, kualitas air hasil pegukuran masih dalam kisaran toleransi yaitu suhu 26-28°C, pH 5-6 dan kandungan oksigen 2,2-3,9 mg.l-1. Jenis tanaman air (eceng gondok dan teratai ) memiliki kemampuan meremediasi limbah minyak bumi dan lateks yang baik, dimana eceng gondok lebih dominan dalam meremediasi biological oksigen demand (BOD), total N, total petroleum hydrokarbon (TPH), kadmium (Cd), dan timbal (Pb) dengan penurunan berturut-turut sebesar 50,02 %, 50 %, 2,11 %, 47,23 % dan 36,62 %. Sedangkan teratai (Nymphae sp.) dominan dalam meremediasi COD dan merkuri (Hg), dengan penurunan sebesar 78,46 % dan 49,43 %.
