Abstract

Introduction: Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH) is a response to the rise of left ventricular wali stress from hypertension. LVH is an attempt to restore the left ventricular wali stress to normal values, maintaining the left ventricular systolic function and reducing the possibility of myocardial perfusion disturbances. The purpose of this research is to determine the characteristics of hypertensive patients who have undergone LVH in Palembang RSMH Hypertension Clinic. Method: The research is primarily descriptive research with the aid of ECG diagnostic and Romhilt-Estes criteria. Results: Of the 59 patients are found 16 people (28.81%) which are positive for LVH. The most incidence LVH is in the age category 50-54 years (37.5%). The sex comparison of patients with LVH between men and women is 2,2:1 with a percentage of 68.8% ffom male and 31.2% from female. LVH patients are most common in patients who are still working and retired with the percentage of 37.5% respectively. 62.5% of LVH patients have a history of hypertension in the family. The incidence of LVH is at most 1-5 year old category of hypertension (50%). All of LVH patients are 100% basis in the history of medicine. 68.8% of LVH patients are taking two types of anti-hypertensive drugs. Most of LVH patients have Heavily Overweight of BMI (43.8%). LVH patients' blood pressure during the examination is dominated by 2nd degree of hypertension with a percentage of 37.5%. Heart rate’s category of the most widely obtained in patients with LVH is normal heart rate, amounting to 62.5%. The most common of complaints come from people with LVH is non-hypertensive complaints (nausea, coughing, tingling, etc.), amounting to 43.8%. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the duration of hypertension dominates as a causeofLVH.
