Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan penambahan natrium karbonat terbaik untuk meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup, mengefisiensikan kerja osmotic dan konsumsi oksigen pascalarva udang galah selama proses penurunan salinitas. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di bulan Juni 2012 di Hatchery Lapangan Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Universitas Sriwijaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Penambahan natrium karbonat sebanyak 75 ppm dapat meningkatkan tingkat kelangsungan hidup serta dapat mengefisienkan tingkat kerja osmotik dan tingkat konsumsi oksigen. Penambahan natrium karbonat 75 ppm diperoleh tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi yaitu 91,67%, mengefisienkan nilai tingkat kerja osmotik 185,68 mOsm.L H2O'1, dan tingkat konsumsi oksigen 1,38 mg02.g'1.j'1. Parameter fisika kimia media selama penelitian berlangsung masih dapat ditolerir untuk kehidupan pasclarva udang galah.
