Abstract
This study aims to analyze the level of efficiency of the sugar industry in Indonesia. This research data is obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and Ministry of Industry. Technical analysis used in this research is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) using model of Return to Scale (VRS) oriented input. The results of this study indicate that the sugar industry in Indonesia From 2000-2014 in inefficient condition on the level of 85%. On the average, during observation period there were 22 sugar companies under Increasing Return to Scale (IRS) condition, 5 companies under Constant Return to Scale (CRS), and 27 companies under Decreasing Return to Scale (DRS) conditions. This condition is caused by the lack of technology and the lack of skill workers in this industry.
