Abstract

Background: The prevalence of osteoarthritis in Indonesian until now there hasn’t been a clear report. But it is, certain that the prevalence and incidence of knee osteoarthritis increased with increasing age and increasing obesity in patiens. Objectives: This research was conducted to determine the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis with obesity. Methods: This research is a descriptive observational study with cross-sectional design. This research was implemented in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Large samples taken of 1877 patients. Results: From 1877 the samples examined, found 747 (39,79%) people suffering from knee osteoarthritis and 84 (11,24%) have excess body weight. Out of 84 found 34 (40,5%) were experiencing excess body weight, 41 (48,8%) people experience obese I, and 9 (10,7%) people experience obese II. From 1877 obtained 53 (7,1%) people aged 40-49 years, 432 (57,8%) persons aged 50-60 years, and 262 (35,1%) persons aged >60 years. From 1877 obtained 479 (64,1%) women, and it brings 268 (35,9%) men. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the commonest form of arthritis most with a minimum of patientsnmore than half overall arthritis patients, and someone who is obese has a 2x greater risk exposure osteoarthritis.
