Abstract
The research of synthesis Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag and aplication for adsorption of methylene blue dye and antibacterial activities has been done. Fe3O4 was synthesized using the coprecipitation method, Fe3O4/SiO2 was performed using the sol-gel method and Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag using the chemical reduction method. The Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag were characterized using XRD, SEM-EDS and VSM. The XRD results show the highest peak at 2θ = 35.55° with a crystal size 9.985 nm. The SEM-EDS results show composite surface uneven and the least distribution Si and Ag on the surface with constituent elements Fe (45.43%), O (37.63%), Si (0.77%), Ag (4.64%). The saturation magnetization of Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag composite has value of 54.697 emu/g. The pHpzc composite results are at pH 7.8. The optimum condition of Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag adsorption against methylene blue was at pH 11 with a concentration 50 mg/L and contact time 60 minutes with an adsorption effectiveness of 95.634%. The adsorpton isotherm against methylene blue according to the Freundlich isotherm model with adsorption capacity 4.386 mg/g and an n value 0.625 while adsorption kinetics according to the Pseudo second-order model with adsorption capacity 19.267 mg/g and k value 0.065 min-1. The Fe3O4/SiO2/Ag composites is able to inhibit Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria to a concentration 1.25 µg/mL with inhibition zone diameters 10.41 mm and 9.5 mm, respectively.
