Abstract

Stroke merupakan manifestasi klinik gangguan peredaran darah otak yang menyebabkan defisit neurologis. Diseluruh dunia stroke banyak mengenai populasi usia lanjut. Sekarang ini ada kecenderungan diderita oleh pasien di bawah 40 tahun. Dari tahun ke tahun prevalensi stroke selalu meningkat, stroke memiliki peringkat ke-2 penyebab kematian terbanyak di dunia pada tahun 1999. Makalah ini bertujuan memberikan informasi tentang prevalensi stroke dan karakteristik penderita stroke. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptive retrospektif menggunakan data sekunder (rekam medik). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien stroke di Rumah Sakit Mohammad Hosein pada tahun 2010 adalah sebesar 2,16 %. Sebagian besar mengalami stroke non hemoragik (62,3%). Dilihat dari usia penderita stroke pada penelitian ini, paling banyak pasien berumur > 65 tahun yaitu sebanyak 30,7% dan paling banyak beijenis kelamin laki-laki yaitu 53%. Paling banyak pasien memiliki riwayat hipertensi (79%) dan mengalami diabetes melitus (22,5%). Oleh karena itu diperlukan usaha pencegahan stroke dengan mengontrol tekanan darah secara teratur dan menerapkan gaya hidup sehat.
